Mira Arifin is a Managing Director and Head of Indonesia Investment Banking for Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BofAML). Miss Arifin oversees all of BofAML’s Investment Banking activities for Indonesian clients. She has been involved in the $6.1 bn sale of Temasek stake in Bank Danamon, Berau Coal US$500 mm bond. She joined BofAML in August 2011 from Nomura ex-Lehman Brothers as part of Nomura’s acquisition of Lehman Brothers’ Asian investment banking business in September 2008 where her capacity was the Head of Indonesia Country Coverage. Miss Arifin previously worked for UBS and JPMorgan and has 16 years of banking experience with work experience across products, industries and regions. After joining Nomura, Miss Arifin was instrumental in reactivating Nomura’s investment banking activities in Indonesia, executing the Republic of Indonesia’s inaugural and the second JBIC guaranteed Samurai/Shibosai Bond; IPO of Bumi Resources Minerals US$275 mm, Star Energy’s US$ 350mm bond issue; Pakuwon Jati US$ 125mm bond exchange; and has acted as financial advisor to companies in the natural resources, financial services and telecom sectors on various.
Miss Arifin joined Lehman Brothers in 2007 where her mandate was to open up Lehman Brothers’ activities in Indonesia and to build the investment banking business. She executed several key transactions, including US$2.2bn and US$2bn global bond offerings for the Republic of Indonesia in June and January 2008, respectively; US$100mm inaugural international bond offering for PT Mobile-8; a US$88mm high yield bond reopening for PT Davomas Abadi; a US$95mm high yield bond reopening for PT Gajah Tunggal; and a US$416mm IPO for Media Nusantara Citra and some derivatives transactions; positioning Lehman Brothers as lead manager of 8 out of 10 Indonesian debt and equity transactions in 2007-2008. Prior to Lehman Brothers, Miss Arifin worked at UBS where she was instrumental in developing their Indonesian Investment Banking business. She executed and completed 7 out of 11 Indonesian bond deals in 2006, including, Excelcomindo, Lippo Karawaci, Republic of Indonesia, Matahari, Perusahaan Listrik Negara (“PLN”), Pakuwon Jati and Bank Lippo; worked on equity placement of Bank Niaga, BII and some derivatives. Prior to that, Miss Arifin started her investment banking career at JP Morgan. Other transaction experience includes Antam inaugural bond issue, sale of Astratel’s KSO to PT Telkom, Excelcomindo and PT Astra International debt restructuring. Miss Arifin has an MBA degree from University of San Francisco and a BA degree from Seattle University.
