Haryanto started his career at AKR in 1983 when AKR was a small trading company. He became the President Director in 1992 and has been instrumental in growing the company. Today AKR is the largest bulk chemicals distributor company as well as the largest private importer and distributor of petroleum, coal producer, and the leading bulk logistic and supply chain with 18 ports locations in Indonesia and 3 ports in china. The group turnover in 2011 is more than USD 2 billion.

Haryanto was awarded the 2008 Indonesian Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst and Young, Businessman of the Year 2012 by Forbes Indonesia Magazine, and Best CEO 2012 by Corporate Governance Magazine Hongkong. Haryanto graduated from Bradford University Management Center, UK, in 1983 and is married with five children.
